What does it sound like or how do you imagine it? Probably when reading these words you are thinking something other than what it means, this has to do with attending to a situation of risk and threat to a community.

Currently, keeping our home or workplace clean requires extra activities that a few months ago we did not contemplate, such as carrying out a general disinfection of the site, especially if we find ourselves with the objective of eliminating the SARS-CoV-2 virus that It causes the COVID-19 disease, which we know can last up to 9 days if it is suspended in the air.

According to the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) [1], Forensic Restoration is the comprehensive response and remediation in areas and structures contaminated, or suspiciously contaminated with biohazard materials (biological-infectious). Its objective includes the response and remediation of situations involving known and unknown infectious diseases with materials such as blood, animal and human tissues, harmful fauna, viruses, among others. These situations are addressed through a Special Cleaning and Disinfection Protocol, Special Protective Equipment (PPE), Restoration Accessories and products such as Restoration Disinfectants.

Forensic Restoration is applied to different disciplines, such as professionals who develop cleaning products for health, also professionals who provide Sanitation and Disinfection Services among other disciplines. For this, it is necessary to receive special training and have experience in the field, in addition to being endorsed and having certifications that demonstrate being qualified in this activity by the competent authorities. As cleaning professionals, it is important to have the necessary response fundamentals, but above all to know how to communicate them, the above to respond successfully to the situation, and in this way to be able to correctly implement the protocol for the evaluation of the site and give for all the best solution.

Today we know that we must wash our hands with soap for 30 seconds to avoid contaminated, but it is best to do it with an Antibacterial Liquid Soap, we also know that we must use Hand Sanitizer 70% ethyl alcohol for the health of our hands, but the most advisable thing is to leave it on for about 60 minutes to ensure that we have them free of viruses and bacteria, we have also learned that a Surface Sanitizer does not eliminate the same number of bacteria as a Multipurpose Disinfectant for the same purpose, where we must also let them act about 3 to 5 minutes (depending on the active base) to ensure the elimination of viruses and bacteria before wiping with a Cleaning Cloth and drying. All this has led us, along with other activities, to invest nearly three times more in professional products and accessories to carry out our cleaning and disinfect our areas correctly.

So for this case, Remediation is a process that prepares the way through evaluation, advice and training helping people, institutions, companies and governments to strengthen their resilience to biological-infectious events, responding in a timely manner through Forensic Restoration and efficiently recovering a space that was previously contaminated, thus guaranteeing the elimination of biological threats. Remember that every time you contract a disinfection and/or restoration service, you must request all the necessary information to be sure that the service was performed correctly and professionally.

Today people expect to live in a level of absolute cleanliness, there are statistics that ensure that more than 48% of the establishments need to provide training to their staff in matters of sanitary, hygiene and cleaning protocols. Now more than ever our spaces and environments must always remain clean and disinfected under high national and international standards, in this way we will ensure that they will be free of viruses and germs, so that we can live and work in them with confidence and in a healthy way.

Always remember that the origin of a threat will always come from a dirty or contaminated place. We must adapt to today’s new lifestyle, but above all we must be well informed in order to regain confidence and feel safe, valuing our health more and taking the first step through professional cleaning, always accompanied by an expert.
